The origin and history of gin

Honey, pollen, elderflowers… it’s the rebirth of nature in a beautiful bottle. Harvest and a distillation made a few hours apart to keep all the intensity of the spring aromas.
For those who love the aromas of flowers, freshness, of renewal… this gin is made for you. We went to harvest elderflowers by hand, in the beautiful gardens of Altaïr in the Dordogne. The distillation was done during the day to preserve all the freshness and aromas, and to keep their gustatory and aromatic potential intact. The Elder tree, one of the first flowers of spring, is the tree that brightens up the fields, roads and woodland edges of our region. An ancient belief promises that an elder tree planted at the corner of your house protects it from lightning…

To the nose, its scent is fresh and delicate. The small flowers are full of pollen, which turns our hands yellow when we pick them. Once in the still, the flower delivers all its perfume.

The agreements

We wanted to make a spirit that could be enjoyed on its own or in a cocktail. That’s why we decided on a floral taste, which goes very well with a good tonic, and brings more flavour to a cocktail.
Like all good spirits, it goes well with fresh dishes such as tomato salad and with cheeses like mozzarella or fresh goat cheese.  For those with a sweet tooth, it goes very well with caramel apple pie or fresh fruit such as watermelon.

Cocktail

A gin to be enjoyed chilled with an elderberry Saint Germain liqueur and a basil leaf.
